Affordable Architecture For the Future

Courtyard House by Studio Junction

Instead of a demo job, this existing contractors warehouse has been re-purposed for a new life. Now architect,Peter Tan, and clients, Christine Ho Ping of StudioJunction, call it home and work. Located in a light industrial area of Toronto, Canada, the couple has chosen to focus the layout inward toward a central courtyard, bathing each adjacent room with a blanket of natural light. Wood is used throughout the interior of the home to capture the rich juxtaposition between the abundant use of the material and the existing concrete block. The home comes across very warm and inviting both of which are qualities that create a healthy environment for the couple and their children to grow up in.
